Zero Days

Zero Days follows Jack Cross, a security specialist who makes a living testing corporate systems by physically breaking into buildings while her husband, Gabe, handles the digital side of the work. After a routine assignment goes wrong, Jack returns home to find Gabe murdered, and the shock quickly deepens when she realizes the police believe she may be responsible. Forced onto the run, she sets out to clear her name and uncover who killed him.

The premise pushes Ruth Ware into faster, more overtly suspense-driven territory than some of her earlier novels. Instead of relying mainly on an enclosed house or remote gathering, the novel builds tension through pursuit, exhaustion, and the constant pressure of a protagonist who cannot safely stop moving.
